Q. Who is eligible for the loans ?

One must be a Kenyan citizen studying at a Kenyan University or admitted to a Kenyan University. The applicant must be over 18 and undertaking a degree program. The applicant must also be a needy recipient .

Q. How do I apply for the Uniport Loans ?

To successfully apply for the Uniport loan kindly follow the following steps:

Step 1 Create a Uniport loans account: click on login link on the top right of the navigation panel on the Uniport loans website. Once this is done, you will be re-directed to a separate window that contains a login form. Click on the create account button and fill the input fields correctly.

Once an account has been created, click on my loans profile on the side-bar. A manual will pop-up containing instructions on how to complete the application process.
Fill in each field correctly and clearly. Note that for you to move to the next step, you need to have completed the previous step.
Some stages may require supporting documents.Ensure these are scanned and uploaded. Note: All scanned documents have to be clear and readable

Once you have successfully completed all the steps, click on submit.

Q. How do i know that my loan application has been approved ?

Loan applicants have to go through a rigorous selection process before being approved for a loan. All successful applicants are informed via texts, emails and phone calls.

Q. What are Uniport loans interest payments?

Interest is at 13% per annum. Loan recipients are required to repay interest every three months from the first loan disbursement.

Q. When are disbursements done ?

Disbursements are done at the beginning of the academic year. Depending on the academic calendar of the institutions, most disbursements are majorly done in May and September.

Q. How much is the actual loan amount ?

Successful applicants can receive up to a maximum of ksh 120,000 per academic year. However this amount varies depending on the financial needs of the applicant.

Q. When am I required to start repaying the loan ?

Interest is paid every third month from the first disbursement, however note that interest is paid while the applicant is still on studies. The principle amount is paid after the recipient has successfully finished their tuition. A grace period of six months is extended to every recipient after completion of studies.

Q. What should I do if I have forgotten the log in password to my account ?

Once you have forgotten the password to your Uniport loans portal account, head to the Uniport loans login portal via the website and click on forgot password. An input form will be displayed, key in your email and click the send email button. Once this has been done an 8 digit code will be sent to your email. Paste it as your new password.
